I made cookies for X'mas... It was a DISASTER. *Gasp* Those unlucky ones who will receive my horrible gift would know. My deepest regrets and may God bless them...
I guess I'm really not cut out for the kitchen after all... To think I had taken up Food & Nutrition during my secondary school years... What a waste of time and effort. And ironically, I had always been under the impression that I was MUCH better in baking than Oriental Cooking.
I followed the recipe step by step. I even had "professional" advice. I knew something wasn't right when the cookie mixture started to curd despite the busy churning of my noisy mixer. My worst fears were confirmed when the mix tasted saltish, NOT sweet. Something was definitely wrong
The first batch of "thing" that came out of the oven wasn't something that I can identify as cookies... It went into the oven like nice little even drops of cookie mix. Then before I know it, it had started to "melt" like ice-cream in the 190 degree celsius white box. What came out of the oven was a pathetic, shapeless, hardened puddle of light brown-ness. I think my "Baking-Adviser" would probably brand them SHIT -- they truely live up to the likeness of that.
I knew at that moment that baking is NOT and would NEVER be my forte. Damn.
